Yeah, the smell of a Christmas tree. Yeah Norway spruce, that’ll do very nicely. Thanks Veggie.
never had a real tree growing up. But I have had a few times since I’ve allegedly been a grown up. Gone back to artificial trees. Don’t see the point of the trees being cut down just for a fortnight’s pleasure. I was given a real on in a pot last year. Which is happily growing very well in a much bigger pot. He’s doubled in size this year. He will probably come in and celebrate with us until he’s too big. Then he’ll be planted outside and decorated.

I nearly chose Norway Spruce too. The shop at the end of the road sells Christmas trees, cut and potted. The smell is out of this world, when they're stacked high and ready to pass through this amazing machine that wraps them in netting so that they can be carried home. That's as close as I get to CHristmas trees now.
We had a big, Irish yew in the front garden and would put lights on it every year. You could do the same with yours when its a bit bigger.

O

I'm going with oranges in any form. I love the smell of making marmalade, peeling oranges or orange oil. My old boss used to hate it.

O is definitely for the smell of the ocean.
Definitely makes me happy and has lots of memories attached to it. And lots more to be made hopefully.

O is for Oregano, the smell of a hot day on a Greek mountain hillside, alive with the buzz and hum of tiny insects, pollinating and feeding on all the flowers. Not just oregano or marjoram, but wild fennel and other scented plants that brush against your legs as you walk.
I've planted clumps of oregano around the garden to try to replicate that feeling, but a cold wet Welsh hillside is missing something - at the moment, its sunshine.

When we were kids, we'd go to the seaside in our little old Austin 7. My Dad, who suffered badly with asthma and chest problems, would get out of the car, take a deep breath and say "Smell that Ozone". We didn't have a clue what he was talking about, but he could always breathe more easily by the sea. If ever I feel a bit down, a trip to the sea always cheers me up.

Grandad was always excited to take in a deep breath when ever we got to the coast. Before we moved there.
I’ve been walking the dogs for the last couple of weeks. And our morning walk is always just to the end of the road to stand and watch the sea for a few minutes. It really makes for a good start to the day. And looking out at something so vast, untameable, critical, mysterious and full of life. Really puts things into perspective. When he is healthy enough to take over dog walks again. I’m going to continue my morning walk to see the sea. It really has been good for me.

P is for Plasticine- the coloured stuff you could roll into shapes. It used to come in strips, with ridges on and you could roll it around in your hands to warm it. It had an oily sort of smell, that stayed on your hands.
Plasticine is one of the few things I can remember playing with in Infants school. We were given wooden boards to roll our plasticine on. One time I made a very complicated arrangement of plasticine (don't ask me what). At the end of the lesson we were supposed to remove the plasticine and leave the boards clean for the next time. My plasticine seemed to have dried onto the board and I couldn't get it off so I sneaked the board into the cupboard when the teacher wasn't looking (or so I thought).
The next time we had a plasticine play lesson, guess which board I was given!!
