J

J has got to be jasmine, the white scented one, it is such a wonderful smell. It was used a lot in the far east to add to flower garlands, when I was a youngster.

Lucky you, lovely tea. Once again reminds me of the far east.

J is Jeyes Fluid. Yuk!!
Used for disinfecting the chicken coop after red mite infestations. Also in the GH. But the smell is forever associated with the public toilets at the bus station - I'm guessing that when the toilets were closed overnight - the area was still used as a public convenience. I suppose the smell of Jeyes was preferable to anything else.
I'll have a sniff of Jasmine tea now to erase the memory.

Jägermeister . Smells bad, tastes even worse!

Think the most disgusting cough mixture in the world, and you’ve got it exactly.

We had a bottle of that stuff in the cupboard for years - didn't dare open it. I think we were given it by someone who thought it was wonderful. I gave it away to someone - no idea who and I doubt that I'll see them again now!

Never tasted it but the description reminds me of Root Beer. I'll have to ask the lad if he has any I can sample.

^^^ Its a Herb Liqueur. Much stronger than flavour than Root beer.
We went to Nova Scotia for a holiday to visit my husband's elderly cousin. She met us at the airport and we stopped off at a little cafe for a meal before reaching her house. Seeing the menu we (OH and I) both ordered Root Beer as we'd never tried it. Cousin said we couldn't have that because it was alcoholic and she didn't approve of strong drink! It seemed rude to argue with her, having only just met her, so we had lemonade instead.
We said Grace before we ate anything. She was lovely, but it was a strain being on our best behaviour all the time!! We were on a self drive holiday around Nova Scotia so, when the day came to pick up our car and head off it was with a bit sigh of relief and a root beer at the first stop. Big Grin

K is for Kippers. Another strong smell that takes over the kitchen and your clothes. I have to be in the right mood to eat kippers but I do like them with fresh bread and butter.

I'm going to do with Kippers too. My dad used to love them, mother didn't like the smell. The other downside is all those filament like bones. Kippers for breakfast remind me of dad, anything fishy and he was up for it. Mother drew the line at fried sprats for breakfast though.
