The conclusion seems to be that harvesting the little blighters is the problem. 
Has anyone tried growing lentils? 
I may try some in a pot, rather than in the ground, so that they're easier to harvest.

No, and not very likely. The weather and vine weevil grubs are leaving me very disheartened.

I won’t be joining you either. Bob can’t eat lentils. So no point growing them.
