I think I asked for free delivery in that survey they did some time last year, so they must have listened! They must be trialling it to see if order numbers increase. It would definitely make me use them more (when everything is on sale  Wink ).

Not really an offer, but comparatively cheap postage from Kings Seeds.

I have been searching for Autumn planted onion sets. Most of the postage costs were prohibitive and over £6.50! Sick

I managed to purchase two 500g packs of onion sets with a postage of only £1.90 from  https://www.kingsseeds.com/

I can recommend growing from seed Autunm sowing Senshyu Yellow £1.09 from premier seeds, probably over 1000 which I grew this year. Hopefully the seed will be good for a few more years, well at least this year and next. Sown early autumn and planted out early October I got a good crop this year and still eating. Can't grumble if 3 years onions for £1.09 + postage (99p).

Toughball is another excellent overwintering onion available as seed, very bolt resistant and stores much longer than the typical overwintering types. Not as easy to find for a good price as Senshyu, but I did get 150 seeds for £1 in DT Brown's recent sale.

I have grown Senshyu from seed before but had very poor germination and only got  about 15 plants from a packet of seed. It was after that I decided to use sets which were guaranteed to grow. I have had to accept an average of  10% loss of plants to bolting though.

Never heard of this one, I'll have to look it up? My faourite Japnese varaieties are  Troy or Radar closely followed by the only one you could get at one time, Senshyu.

Interesting that it can be sown for six months of the year!

£6.00 minimum order is too much for me though.
