Well there's me thinking gardening is supposed to keep us sane.. Ha.
I'm based in Suffolk.
I've got plenty on my grow list, but the problem may be finding space for all the veg I want. I have applied an larger plot so we will see, fingers crossed! I've been recommended to try Aubergine this year, something which I've never grown myself. Anyone else tried this?

I'm one of the sane ones here so I'm struggling to find any positive advice to give you about growing aubergines - apart from Don't. Big Grin

Here's an Aubergine thread https://gardenandgossip.org/showthread.p...=aubergine if it helps!

Hello!

Here are my reasons for not growing aubergines:

1. They're disgusting
2. They're spiky
3. They are aphid magnets
4. They don't do well in poor summers

I think you can either grow aubergines or you can’t.
Mine have never got past the pretty flower stage so after many disappointments I’ve given up on them.

I don't eat aubergines, so I don't grow them. Smile I tried them once many moons ago and was surprised to find they had spikes on the stems, furrry leaves, but very little in the way of fruit. Blush Tried eating some bought ones once and they turned into a slimy mess so they are now at the bottom of my 'must grow' list! Good luck to anyone who grows them though, they do have pretty flower from what I remember.

You should definitely try aubergines. Ignore this lot, they’re all mad  Big Grin .

I’ve had good success with varieties money maker and Kermit. Don’t give up if you’re first attempt is a massive fail. Just try different varieties. I must agree that aubergines being vicious spiky little blighters. I think definitely worth growing.

I put Aubergines in the same bracket as marrows, both tasteless mush!

That said, I wish you good luck if you try.

Aubergines are lovely but the aphids they get are not. I think the annoyance of aphids far outweigh the pleasure of an eggplant. If I want an aubergine I buy it.
