No time in the garden this weekend, other than to pull out stuff that has died off. Picked two pumpkins and two pattypans, which will be my Halloween display this year.
All other time spent painting the bathroom or cooking Smile

Stripped whatever tomatoes were ripe off the vines and watered the plants which were a bit wilted. Did some shopping after.

Whilst walking Kato I passed a farm with a big container of what were described as sweet apples for free. (Take what you want the notice said!)  After trying one I filled my pockets! Rolleyes They had even left bags for people to fill. Smile

Covered some courgettes with fleece that still looked healthyish. Then picked squash/pumpkins that were reasonably ripe. The 2 biggest trombos weighed 5.2kg and 6.7kg. I think I may have grown too many. There are still about a dozen butternut in the polytunnel.

Weeding and clearing in the North Strip - lots of couch grass on this side. Its also where the permanent potato bed is but I resisted temptation to dig some up!
Sowed lots of old carrot seeds in GH2. Probably too old to germinate but I'm giving them a chance.
More leaf thinning of tomatoes.

Weeding and clearing the North Strip.
Sowing chard seeds in GH2.
Propping up mangetout in the outdoor pea cage. They're flowering so I'm hoping they'll crop before winter.
Spotted some Giant Bolivian Achocha although they're not very giant yet. Wonder if they'll survive a bit longer?

Main job for today was cutting the lawn. I have been waiting for a dry day but had to 'bite the bullet' and cut it with a heavy dew on it. Not ideal, but at least its cut! Rolleyes
Busy day tomorrow and the forecast is for sunshine. Cool Boot camp at 9.00am (of course thats after walking Kato) then a Barre session at 10.00am followed by my Covid jab at 12.30, then an afternoons trout fishing.............wey eye man, jobs a goodun! Big Grin

It appears yesterday's high winds might have nudged the solar panels, P says there are some warning lights showing (he did say something electronical but I wasn't listening or understanding) we're hoping for a fine sunny day to see whether the panels are working. It's the devil's own job to get anyone from solar companies out (our installer has long since ceased trading) especially as demand is so high now leccy prices are soaring. Fingers crossed. I do hope he doesn't plan on going on the roof to investigate..........now where's that life insurance certificate? Big Grin

It's a beautiful day outside, but we're due thunderstorms tomorrow. I've harvested my last squash, gathered some hollyhock seeds for the swap, cut down my remaining beans, brought the pods inside for shelling and drying, chopped up all my squash plants to add to my compost paths, and gathered up some of the windfall apples from next door's apple tree. I'd really like to get outside and do some more out there, but I'm pretty shattered after a very long week in work and I'm not sure I'm going to actually going to motivate myself!
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!
