Whitebeam .
Been here for 9 years and never noticed before yesterday the big tree with the red berries. Only noticed it then because I looked up to see what all the noise was about. Blackbird devouring lots of the berries. So after some research. Turns out it’s whitebeam.
Thanks to blackbird being a messy eater. He’s thrown lots on the floor. So I’ve started collecting them.

Something Rob likely will like:
"Whitebeam timber is fine-grained, hard and white. Traditional uses included wood turning and fine joinery, including chairs, beams, cogs and wheels in machinery."

Cedronella canariensis/ Balm of Gilead - one of my favourite scented leaf plant. The flower arrangers may find it useful as a filler plant as its still green.
Also collected some Babington perennial leek bulbils.

Some climbers:
Thunbergia (black eye Susan)
Ipomoea Lobata (Spanish Flag)
Tropaeolum peregrinum (canary creeper)
Not much seed to be had, I think most of it had already dropped off the vines.

I'd like to save sunflower seeds but find it impossible. The blue tits start eating them almost before they have finished flowering. One year I picked one a bit early and left it in the roof of the shed to finish ripening but that was got by mice.

Shishito peppers today - I scraped out the seeds out of the peppers I used in tonight's tea. Delicious little peppers they are. I can imagine they'll go into a seed swap in the near future
