I've grown climbing Frenchies in the gable end of my greenhouse one year! They did really well but I don't think would survive the NE weather (even indoors) to be able to pick on the big day?

But do I really want to traipse up the garden in the wind and snow and frost and icicles in the middle of winter to water and cover something that is tender, probably not, so there's failure before I've even started.

I like the idea. I do grow the usual suspects for the festive meal. But I don’t think it’d work for me. I’ll be honest I’m worried how I’m going to dry all my beans for shelling at the “correct” time of year. Because it’s so damp here they rot if I leave them on the plants to dry. That includes the variety in the polytunnel. So I don’t think I’ll be joining you attempting to grow delicate thing’s for the festive season.

I've made myself a Deal that I will only eat Free stuff or yellow stickers over the festive season. This will be a step up from my usual beans on toast with cheese or an egg on top.

Maybe someone will give me some choccy - then my conscience will be clear.

I'm going to try this - I've got big tubs that can hold the carrots and spuds. Is it too late for parsnips to be sown? I like fresh parsley too, so I'll try for that. I'll sow some cabbage too. I'll re-read this thread for more inspiration
