Well, I'm sorted with Chrome. The issue started when it asked me to choose a profile to log in. What? I only have one. None the less, clicking on my profile icon apparently opened a NEW, but identical seeming profile, hence disappearance of everything. I logged out and there were all my bookmarks. And suddenly two profiles to choose from. So now I'm logged back in with my original profile. And I've backed up my bookmarks to file and will try to remember to do so each week.

Glad you're sorted, Moth. I use Chrome too so, if anything similar happens to me, I'll know what to do.

Small update. I've been having trouble with Chrome on Facebook so I've switched to Vivaldi after a personal recommendation. Feeling brave today.
