Hi Folks

Have you sown them indoors/undercover or outdoors?

French beans, dwarf and climbing - sown in pots in the blow away last week and just showing. We had our last (I hope!) frost on the weekend and daytime temp range is 8-20.
Broadies sown back in the autumn.

I always start beans in pots - never direct in ground. Only sown DFBs so far - CFBs to follow soon.

Like Veggie, alway start off beans in pots or modules, never direct sow. I sowed various CFBs beginning of this last week, may not bother with DFBS I'm humming and hahing.

I'm sowing mine a bit later this year, if they get planted out too soon in May and get hit by a cold wind they get really set back in growth.

I've not sown any beans yet, but when I do, they'll need to go in my little coldframe cupboard type thing. I'm running low on space. And Jay says he likes to see the floor in the conservatory so I can't put more plants in there. The horror.

I chitted some runner beans last week and some of them are already up. In pots on the windowsill at the moment, but will go into the greenhouse this weekend. I aim to plant out at the beginning of May, at which point I'll start some reserves in case a late frost gets them Smile
