OK - I’ve bought three “bare root” physalis or Chinese lanterns for £7.99.
What do you think are my chances of any of these growing??

Look like root cuttings. I think I'll grow some if I can sell cuttings at that price. Rip off!!

I found physalis quite easy to start from seed a couple of years ago - I killed them all later by not watering them, but they did germinate.
Your sticks look like my plants did
after I killed them
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!

Incidentally - five bigger and better root cuttings that are already “showing signs of growth” in Wilko today for just £2.50.
