Variegated Lavetera - seed from VC - I just love this leaf!
Did I send you that? If so, you'd better send it back as I don't have any!
You definitely did!

I've thought about it and "think" I had them from the Cottage Garden Society seed exchange - and shared them with you. Probably have the remainder here somewhere - unsown of course!

I started them this year thinking that when I had my extension built I would use them as a "quick hedge" to get my privacy back on the garden - The area was cleared to make way for the work - digger came in and ripped the existing tree mallows, white lilac and winter honeysuckle out... it still isn't  ready to plant up so they've been dotted along my back hedge and anywhere else I can find. I had 6 seeds. I will save some seed this next year as they haven't flowered yet. Though I've 2 that are over 5ft. Brilliant instant hedging!

How's this for a coincidence? The CGS magazine has just arrived and, in an article titled "The Joy of Seeds" there's a para on Lavatera arborea "Variegata. Apparently, its biennial, grew to be taller than the author, produced lots of variegated foliage, drooped severely in very cold weather but perked up again and, in the following year, produced lots of small purple flowers..........then set seed and died! It produces huge amounts of seed and pops up all over the garden. It is one of two plants that are most asked about on Open Garden days. Not grown very much but well worth trying.

I would like a decision from the circle.

I grew tomato veranda red this year and saved seed with the intention of swapping. I bought the seed from Premiere Seeds Direct and there was no mention of F1. Looking elsewhere these seeds are all classified F1. Do you want them in the swap or shall I omit them?

Seem to be mixed opinions on whether its F1 or not - as usual!
Having grown Veranda, will you grow it again? In other words, is it worth growing and risking, or not worth the effort?
