I Bought the Kitchen Garden magazine (May) in Morries today because it has 10 free packets of seeds - including Tromboncino.Smile Kings Seeds - 8 in a packet rrp £1.40.
The magazine is £5.99 and since you can't see what the free seeds are until you've bought it (like the other gardening mags are), its a gamble - so to save you gambling, the other seeds are:-

Courgette - All Green Bush
Butternut Squash - Waltham
Cucumber - Marketmore 76
Tree Spinach
Welsh Onion
Lettuce - Red Salad Bowl
Coriander - Confetti
Nasturtium - Gleam Hybrids
Hardy Annuals - Dwarf Mix

A few seeds in there that you don't normally see on a magazine cover and I'll grow most of them. Total Seed price = £14.25 and they're all from Kings.

PS There'll be another Tromboncino crazy comp this year.Wink

What narks me is that I subscribe to that mag and I don't get all those interesting ones. A case of 'brand new customers only' syndrome.

Its the same with Garden Answers. One packet for subscribers - 10 in store. If I didn't have the mag free I wouldn't subscribe.

I suppose in fairness a subscription copy doesn't cost 5.99. I'm afraid to figure out the cost of my two subscriptions per copy, I might frighten my tight little self Smile

Bought some LIDL peatfree compost today - £1 for 20 ltrs.
Wasn't expecting anything great for that money but needed some bulk compost to fill some spud buckets.
Its better than I expected. I sieved it to take out some woody bits, maybe a few little stones in there too. About 10% twigs? No plastic.
I'll sow some seeds in the sieved stuff and the twiggy bits can go in the bottom of the potato pots for drainage.
The small bags are easier to handle too.
Will buy more. Smile
