A little more seed sowing.
Got 3 pots ready for this year’s carrots.
Repotted my dierama
Potted on quaking grass, godetia grandiflora, hollyhock & pansy ( all from my advent calendar sowing )
Pricked out papaver Lauren’s grape ( also advent calendar sowing) & musk mallow.

Hi SC

I've never grown carrots before, so how many would you expect to get out of 3 pots?

Took a car for service in Crewe this morning and while I waited, went for a quick look in B&Q. I was quite shocked that £2.50 was the lowest price for seeds in the shop as I had thought their own label used to be quite cheap. I think they are taking advantage of the current situation to charge a lot for the seeds.

I did notice a variety called Ace VF, Verticillun and Furarium resistant so might do well in the greenhouse border. But I wasn't going to pay £2.50 - for 10 seeds I think. Back home found Premier seeds sell it for 99p - for 120 seeds. So I have made a note for next year. I'm trying Roma VF this year.

A day of cutting down last year's raspberry canes, brambles and pruning the apple tree that the brambles and raspberries were growing under and through!
The apple tree has a couple of suckers alongside it so I'll remove them and replant somewhere. One day. I may learn to graft apples and they could be useful............or not!!
Really cold outdoors today - I've only just thawed out.

Hi SC

Depends how big your pots are.
mine aren’t actually pots, they’re lick buckets. I’ll take photos later!
It also depends on variety and how fussy you are about the size of carrots you get.

Danny I sow mine in builders buckets I try to have the seeds a finger apart but you can always use the little ones in salads.
Was looking for a photo then found one on this thread.

Lick buckets

Mineral lick block for sheep. When they’ve finished your left with very useful buckets with lids. Put hole in the bottom perfect for growing stuff like carrots.
Like Bren says builders buckets work well so do MFB.
