My Uncle and Gran had one exactly the same.....same colour and patina as well. I used to love 'rooting' around in it when they were out. He had all his stuff he had brought back from the war and his army life abroad. Gurkha knives, fancy dirks and even his service dagger. I have them myself now somewhere and if I could find them I might polish them up for display some day.
I love this dark wood stuff but its not to everyone's taste, including my OH's unfortunately!

Think I have got the smitt off you SC with your brown goods..
Just picked this tallboy up off eBay. OH is disabled and struggles to get upstairs so this will be going in the corner of the living room for her clothes and nightclothes. Wasn't too keen at first, but she picked it and it makes sense I suppose.
Getting delivered tomorrow lunchtime.

That's so elegant Vinny! My folks collected antique furniture but it isn't so popular now and mum took a huge hit at the auction house when she downsized last year. Most didn't sell at all
Good news SC and so great to be close by. We had to rely on the Friday night email from the project manager and one visit once the slab was down and before the walls were started. Friday nights were even better than usual
