SC, how hot is Beaver Dam chilli please? It looks a bit like a "sweet" pepper.

It is quite a hot one. Sorry. If you eat just the first 1/2” off the tip it’ll be like a sweet pepper, but it get hot after that.

SC do you know all your chillies personally and remember their attributes, or do have to look them up somewhere?

Ooops I might have made a mistake with that one, I looked it up and thought it was medium. Understandably, like tomato taste, the heat of chillies is very subjective. The proof will be in the growing, if we get that far. A little bit of me is almost hoping they don't all germinate, then I won't have to find room.
Perhaps a silly question SC without a picture, but do you have any idea the possible variety of the bog standard medium chilli variety the supermarkets offer, they all look very similar but I know appearance isn't everything.

No idea like you say, you can’t tell from appearance alone.
You’ve not made a mistake with beaver dam. It’s not that hot. It’s just surprising hot in something that looks like a sweet pepper. Also veggie has no heat tolerance, so it would be unpleasantly hot for her delicate taste buds. One thing I’ll never do, is tell someone a chilli isn’t to hot when it is ( especially when everyones tolerances are so very different).

Ones I grew (from last years seed swop from the forum that cannot be named!) were “Demon Red” . Really tiny little things, but hot as hell.
I haven’t grown many chillies before, so you aficionados might not think them hot at all.
Made the mistake of popping a whole raw one in my mouth because they were so small.
Won’t do that again.
It was a lovely pretty little plant though.
