Must be a Midlands word. I learned it from my Mum, who grew up in a small village where the Leics/Lincs/Rutland  boundaries meet. From my grandparents house we crossed the lane and went down the jitty to the other end of the village. Saved walking all the way round by the road Big Grin

We also use the word jitty to us its a longish narrow walkway with hedges either side. then a Gennel/ginnel is between two buildings.
Love how we all use different words for the same things.
