If you could get your hands on some wild garlic I think it would thrive there.

I love wild garlic and it grows wild (obviously!) quite a bit in these parts. Delicious Smile

I'm glad you started this thread. I've got 2 old baths that have been about the place for 35+ years and I've been thinking where I could grow mint and contain it. One will be just the job. And I could well use the other for carrots. The problem will be getting them into the sunshine as they weigh a ton empty, both enamelled cast iron that the previous owner here used to water cattle.

If I can get it Spec yes I do. I thought I had got some wild garlic bulbs last year alas they were not. I need to try find some this year. The other one I like is garlic chives, not had any success growing them, but they are lovely in stuffings and gravy, also in mashed potatoes.

I wouldn't add anything else. Lavender, rosemary, and lots of different thymes is a perfect and harmonious combination. It will look and smell lovely.

I finally planted up the tin bath this week - just before a planned trip to the GC, one of the catalogue companies I like (Graines-Baumaux) had a sale of Med herbs with a really nice range of thyme plants.
So I planted -
1 French lavendar (of course!!)
1 lemon savory
And then these thymes -
Cumin citronee
Creeping red
Cascade (2)
Orange
Doudou (woolly thyme)
Duftkissen

Plus I have space for a retombant rosemary once the cuttings are more than a few cms!!
