I'm a fan of herb flavoured salt - basically dried herbs and salt crystals in a grinder, although I've never made them myself.  Blush Great on chips. Wink

I'm about to start one with seaweed!! The ingredients are:-
Sea salt, Nori, Sea lettuce, oregano, Parsley, Celery, Basil, Thyme, lemon grass, pepper, Mustard, Coriander, Onion, Garlic, Poppy seeds, Bay, Chilli, Mint, Herb flowers.

So many ingredients you can add - and the more you add, the less salt you use.

A suggestion for SC, in particular - have you made Chilli Salt? Maybe a new line for your "shop" especially if you could find local sea salt. Recipes at https://www.chilipeppermadness.com/chili...lt-blends/

I spend my holidays in Fuerteventura where they do local sea salts flavoured with different things. The do a chilli salt and they also do a very nice lemon salt with lemon zest. We have a working salt museum and the still gather the salt in the sa beds to sell. The only downside is the crystals are soft and not suited to a grinder. They are like very just sprinkled over the meal.

The grinders have salt crystals, not flakes but I imagine they'd work as well in a shaker/pot.
I used to buy Halen Mor (Anglesey Sea Salt) but a friend has given me a carrier bag of Himalayan Rock Salt so I'll be using that up for the next 200 years.

Thanks veggie. That’s brilliant. I’ve seen other chilli producers doing the salt blend. Never tried it myself. I might have to have a little play with that.

I try to use sea salt whenever I can but not on eggs.

If I crunch on a bit of egg shell that's me done for. Cry The sea salt being crunchy reminds me of egg shells and I can't eat the egg. Rolleyes

I have a tub of Kerala Chinese salt & chilli pepper seasoning I haven't got round to using yet, but it should be nice on chips. Big Grin

I know what you mean about egg shells, Vinny.
I've just hard boiled 8 eggs and shelled them and those little teeny bits of shell cling on to your fingers and the eggs and its really difficult to get rid of them. Its like having real sand in your sandwich!!

I liked the flavoured vinegar that SC suggested so I'll probably give this a go.

I've finally finished that Salt mix so can use the grinder for one of my own concoctions. I'm starting simple with Dried Rosemary and Oregano from the garden and Himalayan Rock Salt. May tweak it once I've tried it on a few things.
