I've just received a card from my vendor, that she posted on 1st September!!! Whoops. I hope she doesn't think I'm really rude for not getting back to her.
Apparently she was advised not to contact me directly, so she's clearly tried to figure out my address from the conversation that we had when I viewed (since the place where I'm staying is different to the permanent address that's on all the paperwork that I've provided for the purchase). Unfortunately, that meant it went to the old nurses' accommodation at the hospital, which is now admin offices, rather than the staff accommodation where I actually live. It's taken another two months for it to reach me!
She must have got fed up with waiting for me to reply as she called the estate agent to invite me round to see if there was any furniture I might want (which is what the card was about). I am actually going round on Monday - which is exciting but also scary as I have only spent 15 minutes inside (back in May) up to now. In the card, she mentions the washing machine, lawnmower, and a big freezer in the garage. I already have a washing machine and a lawnmower (though can imagine my Dad's face if I turn down a free lawnmower!) but a big freezer would be really, really useful.
Everything is looking super promising now. Apart from the fact that my solicitor has just casually mentioned that there are a couple of outstanding enquiries! What could possibly be left?!

I'm so excited for you, Pros.
When you visit, you'll have a different take on it - viewing it as your home, not somebody else's, The vendor may want to leave lots of stuff because its easier than disposing of it,
If its Free, take it, as it will tide you over until you know what you really want. You can always offer it on a freecycle site afterwards.

Seeing the house in 18 minutes. Sat in the park nearby listening to an elderly lady tell a friend about how she's there choosing a spot for a bench for her husband:
Friend: " Oh, for him to sit on?"
Woman: "Naow, 'es dead now. I told you!"
Friend" "Oh, I'm sorry, that must have been..."
Woman: "And such a double whammy 'cos the dog's de'ed too!"
I'm not sure which of them she misses most!
Pretty nervous about seeing the house again, so finding distractions where I can.

Brilliant story, Pros!
Take lots of notes and photos, if you can - to remind yourself what you've seen in the house. Its easy to forget the detail.
I bet the owner will have a pot of tea and biscuits waiting for you!!
