When I asked the duck about the Carabus granulatus he said that it was called a sausage ground beetle because of the marks on its back. Is it a rarity on the island?

Is it a rarity on the island? Yes its common name is the sausage ground beetle. Which is a very silly name. But then its patterning does look like strings of sausages. I didn’t think it was a rarity. I found one last year in the garden. I just don’t think anything smaller than a mink is being monitored/recorded in this part of Mull because no one is looking. Once I’ve got the house and garden to a place I’m happy with (finished ) I might start going for regular walks around the village to see what else I can find. But the fact I’m finding these things in my garden is pretty cool.

You have an incredible eye for wildlife spotting and photography.. I just see a "beetle" or a "snail" but your photos bring out the beauty in every little creature. Thank you.

I'm ok with Mollusc forgetting they don't rock my boat.
