Tea was lovely started with a sharing smoked fish platter hot & cold smoked salmon, maple smoked salmon, smoked salmon pate, smoked mussels & langoustines. Main course was a sort of cook it yourself buffet. A big hot plate thing in the middle of the table that you cooked you meat on and little individual grill pans that you sliced your cooked cold new potatoes onto top with a selection of cured meat covered with cheese and put under the grill in front of you to cook, all served with salad and pickles. All very tasty and a bit different.

Was this a special occasion? At yours or were you guests? It sounds amazing. PS having read the rest of yesterday's posts, I see you went out for tea.

I've been to a Mongolian BBQ (which is neither Mongolian nor a BBQ) as a girl in the Far East, it was similar but on a grander scale. Dad was so horrified at the price we never went again but even as a kid I remember it being exceptional.  Something like this. You chose your raw stuff and took it to the huge hot plate. I can't remember what or how seasonings were applied.
