Cleaned out the comfrey water butt ready for next year. The solids from it went on the compost heap. Chris thought they smelled somewhat.
Then picked some beans for drying and a few eating apples.

Yesterday I sowed some lettuce, spinach and chicory in the greenhouse, in between the tomatoes that will come out in the next month or so.

I picked a whole load of shishito peppers.

Today I've processed two bags for life full of apples from my neighbour - that's a lot of apple sauce, apples for crumbles cooked down, and apple sweet - a kind of caramelised marmalade with lemon and apple cider vinegar in it. It's unusual, but moreish! The recipe is here - you should be able to translate if you open the link in Chrome Smile

It's a good job you said apple cider *vinegar* or I would have assumed äppelcider meant apple cider! I rather like sweet things with vinegar in (like shrubs) so this is right up my alley. I could see this turning out rather differently using boozy British cider (yuck, alcoholic), or American apple juice cider (too sweet)!

I have bookmarked that whole site to peruse at my leisure. I rather fancy the rabarbermarmelad too! I will have to try it next year, when I should get my first rhubarb harvest from this garden Smile
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!

Started to deleaf the tomatoes in GH1. Still lots of tomatoes to ripen. I always aim to pick fresh tomatoes on December 25th.
Removed the gate from the old chicken run as it had sagged and the crafty chook and the dogs could squeeze in and out. Put a temporary gate on the inner part of the run using a piece of metal fence that my neighbour had put out for the scrappies some months ago. They weren't as quick as me. Big Grin

Aww I'm so pleased! It was meant to be alcohol free cider (cider isn't alcoholic in Sweden) but I like the tang of the apple cider vinegar. I couldn't stop eating it when it had cooled down!

Swedes are phenomenal at preserving. That site is the biggest supermarket chain and their recipes are very well tested - enjoy! Smile

I was progressing with building my shed at the top of the garden when I spotted a delivery driver leaving. He had delivered my three lots of onion sets from DT Brown. Cool
Looking at them I will be struggling to find space for them purely because I would rather not plant onion in areas I had them this year. Needs must though as other areas have winter crops in them.
Pleased with the look of the sets which look healthy and free of mould. I already have some Senshyu growing where some spud were, so now all I have got to do is find space for Electric,Radar & Snowball. Rolleyes

Harvested beans, collected seeds, potted up a dianthus that has rooted. Now I’m away to the tunnel to do some paint mixing.

Did some weeding and path clearing in the South Strip.
Sowed turnips in the big veg bed and pulled a carrot and 4 radish that were growing there for dinner. Don't worry, I'll find something else to eat with them.

Took out the begonias and fuchsias in the hanging baskets. Replaced them with winter pansies.

I know, groundbreaking.

Cut down my JA's stems to 6inch-ish I've left some tall to see if it makes any difference. Dug out weeds.
