I have a weakness for mixed seeds too. 
Chiltern used to sell (maybe still do?) a packet of mixed seeds with a list of what was in there. I would sow them and try to identify the seedlings from the names on the list.
EDIT - it was called the Non-anonymous mix - but its not in their catalogue now.
