It's that time of year again. This year me and Kato are going traditional-ish? . I have 'tailed' the 5p sprouts, cut the 5p carrots into slices, and 'chunked' the 5p parsnips, all of which are added to a single pan. In a bowl I have sliced 5p red cabbage (less than half of) sliced an allotment onion and added half a jar of whole cranberry sauce. I had a taste of this and it was ok in it's pre-cooked state as a salad?
Plan is to bung the turkey in the oven tomorrow from frozen, also add the frozen roasties at the time required and also take the parsnips out of pan once par boiled and after adding goose grease, bung them in the oven also.
I have made enough for both Kato and I and he will get a full plate full. It will be intersting to see what he eats and what he leaves as he is more of a carnivore than I am! The birds will probably get their share of Crimbo dinner with whatever is left. (No turkey will be left)
The annoyng thing is I have most of these 5p veg growing in allotment (apart from carrots) but at 5p, it was cheaper to buy them than the cost of travelling to allotment and digging them up!
If I have room, I have a Christmas pud and either custard or cream for afters.
My 'dinner' is what most of you lot call lunch and will be had at about 12.30! Merry Christmas and especially to Veggie with her beans on toast!
Oh, forgot gravy, I'll just work that one out on the day!
And Oh again, I have a wonderful treat for New Years Eve, an MRI at a hospital I have never been to before, what a treat that will be!
