This week is Roots and Shoots week (remember my other cunning plan?) which is the first week in my 3 weekly sowing rotation.
The GHs are still quite full with tomatoes and cucumbers in their 30ltr pots. However, I can fit a flower bucket (MFB) in the gap where two tubs meet. Imagine a pair of glasses as two big pots and a flower bucket where the nose would be!
I sieved a 30ltr pot of old compost, added some coir and chicken manure pellets and this was enough to fill 6 MFBs.
My plan is to sow carrots, beetroot, radish and winter radish, in 4 MFBs every 3 weeks
Next week, being Fruits week, I'll sow peas and DFB in a few more pots - either large, or MFBs, depending on available space.
The following week is the turn of Leaves, probably lettuce, rocket, chard/spinach and some pakchoi or kale. These may be sown in trays, rather than pots and they will be grown on the GH bench.
Today I sowed carrots, beetroot, summer radish and mooli radish.
With a bit of luck, I'll be able to keep up this sowing plan throughout the winter and, most importantly, have something to harvest over winter too.
You'll be the first to know.
