Today is bitterley cold with a not a polinating insect is in sight.(Can'r say I blame them!) My potted Conference pear is in full flower so as it is supposed to be self fertile? I decided to try and do the bees work for them with a paintbrush? I must admit I couldn't see any pollen on the paintbrush tip but went over all the flowers that were open with it. Two years ago I had a single pear and last year no pears at all! 
Hopefully I have done some good and will get some fruit this year as it is awash with flowers!
