We definitely don't get as much rain here as the UK does, or at least it doesn't feel like we do. More snow though, definitely. And we have far less damp here too. That's possibly more obvious to me because our house in the UK was not terribly well ventilated, and that's not great for a brick house... Here we have lived in two houses that are 150 year old and entirely made from wood. These houses breathe in a completely different way and it's far better for our health.
A benefit of getting snow here is that we can track the wild life, and so far we have seen tracks of rabbit, hare, although not many of them, lots of roe deer, some moose, one fox and quite a few wild boar. A wolf was spotted on a wildlife camera about two miles from here, but they are incredibly rare.
