Methylated Spirits, not really pleasant but not unpleasant. Reminds me of dad firing up the model traction engine which ran on meths.

Nail polish remover. The old sort that smelled of acetone. I just love it, along with aeroplane glue and the gluey stuff that gets painted on glass fibre patches for repairs. I used to work near a glass fibre factory, it was a lovely smell walking past it. As a child my brother used to build model aeroplanes and the smell of the glue was wonderful. Just as well I didn't realise you could get high on the stuff, I'd have been well away.
I admit it, I was. Maybe that accounts for a lot of things. Acetone, pear drops, anything volatile. Even today there are some marker pens that smell devine. Luckily I never resorted to a paper bag full of the stuff.
