I found some very old Travellers Cheques and US dollars in the back of the cupboard recently. I knew they were there really but had been too lazy to work out where to cash them in. Today was the day to go to the bank and find out. I drove over to bank, parked in the car park, collected a few free items locally then went into the bank.
Ahead of me, being seen by the cashier, was someone who looked familiar from the back but banks aren't the sort of place where you try to attract attention so I waited until he had finished. As he turned around my suspicions were confirmed - it was my brother. We walked back to the car park together and he had parked 2 cars away from mine! What are the odds of this? I haven't been to the bank in person since before Covid!
Back to the travellers cheques - the cashier said that nobody used TCs these days and she couldn't accept them but she gave me a phone number to contact. As for the US dollars (about $160) she said she could accept them but, she whispered, I'd get better rates at the supermarket/Post Office. So I gathered up my money and left with my brother.
The good news is - I found that you can cash in TCs on the American Express website so that is in hand now. May have some money to spend on seeds soon.
