I sow just the once, fairly early in April, this year 2 x 20' rows and a bit on one side. I planted them out at end of April with first picking on 28th June. Last year I picked peas 10 times, roughly every other day. The last few pickings tend to have a few grubs in but not too many. Last year I left 4' of row to ripen for seeds and this year am doing the same again. When I pick the dried peas, there is usually a lot more grub damage but as long as they leave me about 700 good seeds I don't mind too much.
I used to sow in succession, a few each week but found the later crops were not worth picking sometimes. I find it a lot easier now to just pick, pod into a plastic bag and then straight into the freezer. I used to spend time and energy blanching a lot of different veg but now don't bother and can't taste any difference
