I've never grown or eaten chard. 
An allotment neighbour really loves it so I thought I might give it a try. I have bought Chard-Bright Lights and will sow it on Sunday. 
I must admit that one of the reasons I liked the look of it was that one red plant of hers had bolted and made the most architectural plant, well over six foot high that wouldn't go amiss in a flower garden. I bought the seed from 'Seed Craft'
