I dug up my remaining early potatoes (or rather my Manchester daughter did), some garlic, cucumbers, onions and beetroots. I was surprised how large the beetroots had grown having been sown mid march. Then a kilo each of redcurrants and gooseberries which daughter took with her. I need about 10kg of red currants for my morning porridge. I've not had many raspberries, strawberries or cherries as the squirrels seem to be partial to those. I need bout 6kg of raspberries as well which I should get in the autumn.
The blasted squirrels made a big hole in the fruit cage while I was away and quite a lot of red currants had been eaten by the blackbirds. Since I fixed the hole, I've seen them bouncing on the roof where it was and squawking before flying away.
