Building a Hugelkultur Bed

Looks interesting PP. I was considering doing a hugel raised bed or two as I need something to fill some new raised beds and have some old slightly rotten wood which is currently just piled up making some habitat for some minibeasts. There is plenty for my plan and enough left to keep the habitat space going.
Did you find the biggest amount of work was lugging the logs n building the pile up? Do you think it would have been easier if confined within a raised bed? Any thoughts appreciated.
