I think it must have been the time of year, probably early summer. In compost covered with a plastic bag on a Northwest facing kitchen window ledge. In the next few weeks should be good time when they are growing strongly and not too woody.
I did take some in autumn last year and put in a propagator but none took. They seemed to be still alive all over winter but in Jan/Feb, there were no roots and the leaves dropped off eventually.
