2022 - What I did today

Last night around midnight we were just about to turn light off and go to sleep when we heard clattering above, it wasn't Christmas Eve so I was sure it wasn't Santa, so I got up to investigate (please note it was I, not P!). I thought it was from outside but no, it was from the loft. We occasionally get mice up there but nothing that usually makes that noise, so I banged on the ceiling with a walking stick thinking to shut it up but no, it was still clattering after several hefty knocks. Not having this, I thought, opened up the loft hatch and started up, bearing in mind I had very little on, all I could here from below was laughter! Smile Noise had stopped of course, but I set a trap anyway. This morning the bait had gone and the trap still set so whatever it was had some canny sense. I still don't know what it was, mice or rat, but I've set more reliable traps and P is going to set up a camera to record what happens up there tonight. Should be interesting. Watch this space.

Brought in a load of turf and logs to the bunkers outside the house. Chopped kindling. Then finally got to the tunnel, dug 3 of the raised beds, added BFB, seaweed granules and raked them over, weeded around the herb bed and added BFB and seaweed around the herbs. Watered the herbs and the garlic, checked my heritage carrots they are ready for digging next week. Smile.
I hope you treated yourself to a pint after CAN?

I dug out plenty of couch grass today too as well as lots of buttercups nd the odd dock though it being heavy wet clay, I'm sure to have missed some (as usual).

I've shifted at least ten barrows of concrete today, fed and watered the chickens, sowed some cabbage seeds.
So much I want to do out in the garden... pesky work is interrupting me.

Sure did Danny, I had 4 bottlers of Bulmers (read Magners in the UK) Light Cider.
Coffee keeps me busy until it’s acceptable to drink whiskey.

All I've done is pick up a baby's cot in the rain - and its outside the backdoor in the rain, in pieces, acclimatizing. Big Grin

I've collected the eggs today, that's about it. And planned how to get the greenhouse on Sunday. Nothing more is likely to be done, as I have an essay deadline looming Smile
