We’re well on our way Choosing the Chillies & sweet peppers for next year. I thought we should do the same for everything else as well.
My list is definitely only a rough outline. I’ve not really given it much thought! About time I did.
In
1 Tromboncino
1 Buffalo horn tomato
1 Rosella tomato
2-3 buckets Carrots
5-6 Red cabbage
4-5 Broccoli
2-3 kale
1 Spaghetti squash
1 Cucumber
Some Lettuce/salad
Asparagus & rhubarb because it’s already there.
And obviously the already mentioned chillies & sweet peppers
Everything else is out because I’ll be a builder not gardener next year
Builder that would like to go play in the garden.

Out:
Brokali Apollo F1. Sets a tiny main head and the side shoots are really spindly, sparse and go to seed in a flash. Got much better side shoots in terms of quality and quantity off Marathon calabrese.
Shiraz Mangetout. Looks pretty and is productive, but not very tasty. Will be replaced with Oregon Sugar Pod.
Any curly kale. Little brassica moths and whitefly love hiding in the folds. They ignored the calabrese, Tuscan kale and kohl rabi in the same bed.
New Zealand spinach. Easy to grow and prolific, but has a weird texture when raw and no taste when cooked. Also makes my throat burn/itch.

May be you should grow one for the white fly so they don't turn their attention to the others, unless you think you can eliminate them.

Tomatoes
Out: Marmande as never done very well for me and I suspect the current seeds harbour tomato leaf mould.
In: Black Russian. Never tried it before
First time grown this year was Roma VF which did OK but slugs found it very attractive. The VF stands for verticillum and fusarium wilt resistance so will try growing one in the greenhouse border where other varieties do very poorly. If it does well, I will try grafting onto it in 2022.
Also in Beth Alpha cucumber. Never grown before but seems a popular variety on this site.
