Frosts

Could well have our first frost here tonight.

I'll need to pick everything that is ready/nearly ready for picking and cover up what I think is worth covering.

I've picked most of the beans but a few left to pick, hopefully the raspberries will be ok.
I think the main crop that will need covering are a couple of courgette plants and some butternut squash that are still a bit pale.

Hopefully shutting the greenhouse doors will be enough for their contents but I'll pick all the tomatoes that are even slightly ripe as, if they get cold overnight, they tend to split, maybe caused by condensation on the skins.

No frosts here yet had a few nights of 5c in my GH and I’ve fleeced the remaining courgettes hoping they’ll grow a bit longer.

Down to 5ish in my GH too. Closing doors and crossing fingers time.

Our first outside air frost last night according to two min max's reading 0°. Our forecast only suggested 4 ish (I think) which we've had already so I'd didn't take any special precautions outside. The gh was shut up early evening. From the house I can see my dahlias don't seem to have been touched nor the impatiens but I haven't yet braved the chill to check on the rest of the garden. Bonus is that it's clear, bright and sunny, and the nights are due to get warmer.

My dahlias got hit! So did a lot of other plants - crap weekend for my boiler to break down too! Sad

I'm in the South West but I back onto fields and it's just so open. Some will perk up but lost lots of flowers and several where the foliage will need to be chopped off.

On the plus side a commercial dahlia grower near me ( who also got hit by frosts last night) is upping sticks........so she can't take the field with her ( over 600 plants) but I get to dig some up for me!!' OMG so excited.

No frosts here. I was late in getting up though and only surfaced when the guy knocked on the front door for OH's Oxygen delivery at about 8.30am. Angry
I imagine the first thing that will be hit will be the courgettes. Huh
