I turned off the boiler last night and put the immersion heater on this afternoon. Also, washed the dog's blankets and towels and they dried quickly in the wind.
Next up, I found the slow cooker and put some dried peas to cook. They'd been soaking since last night.
Also filled 2 flasks with boiling water.
Tomorrow, the hours are 1-3pm which at least covers lunchtime. It'll be interesting to see how much, if anything, they credit my account with!

Just finished my time slot! Have washed a load of bedding, Heated the water with the immersion, filled 2 flasks with boiling water and cooked some bulghur wheat (use by 2022) in the microwave. It was the first thing I grabbed but the cooking instructions were for cooking on the hob. Maybe microwaves hadn't been invented when this bulghur wheat was packaged!

Today's time slot is 1-2. That'll be Immersion heater, bread maker, hot water for flasks, something for lunch. I'm going to be busy!!

Tomorrow is 12-2pm but only paying 25p a KWh. I've caught up with the washing so need to think of something new for tomorrow.

Today's energy shift wasn't very productive. Just Hotwater tank, filling flasks and a bit of microwave/halogen cooking for lunch. Every little helps!

Today was 1-3 so Immersion heater, 2 flasks filled, shredded all the waste paper for the compost bin and turned the dehumidifier on for a short while.

Bit of a change today - to use less electricity!
The next #TurnDown event will be on 5 May 2026 from 6:00PM to 6:30PM. Your target is to use 10% less electricity than you usually would during this time.
If you hit your target, we'll give you £1.00 in credit for every extra kWh of electricity you save.
Not sure how much different I can do in 30 minutes - just delay my dinner as it was gong to be microwaved leftovers?! Guess I could fill a flask, just in case.
Last night I switched the hotwater boiler back on. The Hotwater in the tank didn't stay hot enough for the washing up last night.
