Started planting out some leeks but decided they are too small yet after planting about 20. So will keep an eye on these and may be try again in a couple of weeks. Will clear the dahlias and raspberries out of the greenhouse to make way for the tomatoes , aubergines and peppers this afternoon. I need to find somewhere in the fruitcage for the raspberries, about 7 clumps of Joan J.

Weeded the supermarket crates on the outdoor "salad bar" and sowed rocket in one crate. Will sow lettuce in another one.
Planted some Crimson flowered broad beans in VP5. Whilst weeding I found a self seeded broad bean or it could be regrowth from last year.
Planted 3 Beth Alpha cucumbers in GH1.
The usual round of watering pots and seedlings. Not complaining about the hot weather at all!

Weeding, weeding and yet more weeding!
Sprinkled chicken manure pellets around the dahlias which I planted in large containers many years ago and leave out all winter as they simply refuse to die.
Tied in the sweet peas again.
Potted up the basil cuttings I'd left to root in a jar of water.

Planted out ½ row of mangetout green beauty plants, sowed the other ½ with Carouby. Pricked out cucumbers, courgettes and French marigolds. Watered.

Bought a mock orange and a few packs of seeds. Sowed phlox, double click cosmos, bunny tails grass, and asters. Toted all the seedlings in and out for their daily sunbath.

Finished potting up phlox. Potted on some sunflowers. Sown more sunflowers. Planted verbascum southern charm in the small bed. Picked a few stones, a token gesture towards filling what will be a path in cottage garden. Currently being mistaken for the makings of a pond. Found some cuckoo flower, sneezewort & meadow buttercup so planted them in the wildflower patch.

Moved house plants out of caravan into the tunnel for the summer. Put all the potted tomatoes outside to start hardening off. Back in the tunnel this evening. Watered tunnel and all outside pots. Weeded the fence bed and planted out a candelabra primula. Started filling a very large pot with a mix of homemade compost, manure & brought compost. It will have a red currant in it hopefully by end of tomorrow. Red currant was eventually found in amongst the selection of pots of fruit & hedging plants, that have been neglected and grown into the undergrowth for the last 3 years. Red currant is now weed free and ready for its new home. Moved the potato grow bag from the tunnel to continue growing outside.

Did very little outdoors today - too cold. Just a bit of compost sieving in the GH.
