I’ve joined Argyll biological centre fb page and asked on there.  Definitely a group for very dedicated invertebrate experts & enthusiasts.

A Bird - Siskin
A Butterfly or Moth (incuding caterpillar, chrysalis and imago)
A Bee or Wasp - heath bumblebee
A Mollusc - netted slug ( I think) didn’t pay that much attention to him, was fighting with a weed at the time.
An insect or spider - green bottle
Another living creature -

I've lost track of previous sightings (there's been rather few)

Bird - Buzzard
Butterfly - an unidentified white one
Mollusc - a small black slug in the soil, probably a keeled slug
Insect - a ladybird
Other- a piebald Shetland pony
Gardening is an excuse not to do housework
Greetings from Salisbury

An insect - an Ant (several actually)

A Bird - whooper swans
A Butterfly or Moth (incuding caterpillar, chrysalis and imago)
A Bee or Wasp - early bumblebee ( actually saw her yesterday) not the weather for little things to be out today.
A Mollusc -
An insect or spider -
Another living creature -lamb. First one of the season

This is Miley, first orphan of the year. Less than impressed with being in the little pen getting some fresh air. Would much rather be having cuddles or free ranging causing chaos.

Very bad photo of the swans

Yesterday’s early bumblebee, possibly a queen.

Your heather must be buzzing with bees - of all sorts. Is it wild heather?

When the weather is good the heather is alive with bees. I counted 14 bumblebees at one point yesterday. Mostly white tailed ( I think). It’s winter flowering heather.  Definitely getting more or learning how to take cuttings from it. It flowers for a long time as well. The plants seem to like it in that position. They’ve doubled in size in just over 12 months.

Your honeybees will love it too. One of the local beekeepers specialised in Heather Honey and would move his hives to the heather when it was flowering.

We have a fair bit of wild heather within range of our bees. So they’ll definitely be harvesting that. I’ve seen one of our girls on the winter heather while I’ve been looking for new things to add to our daily list.

Off the back of this I spy wildlife 6 a day challenge. I’ve decided to keep a record of all the birds that visit my garden and the more unusual insects. Only criteria it must land in my garden.
