Giving up for Lent

I didn't mind Sunday School. I got an old penny off my parents for the collection, which I put in the Beechnut chewing gum machine attached to the outside of the shop next to the church. ( Every fourth penny got two Beechnut packs, if you were lucky?)

And when we got home afterwards we always had custard & jelly! Big Grin

I , like Vinny haven’t been to Sunday school for a while. If I’m honest I didn’t go very often anyway. I remember being absolutely outraged by being made to go to school on a Sunday.
I went to Sunday school mostly because they gave you biscuits.  Big Grin

1. Books - don't buy any.
2. Books - give away a book a day
3. Stop using teabags and use looseleaf tea instead.
4. Eat homemade bread.
5. Sow a packet of seeds a day
6. No ready meals
7. No pretend meat products

Day 2 completed!
2. Another book for the bookpile which should have 40 books to give away by the end of Lent!
3. Made a pot of Duchess Earl Grey tea which is black tea with orange pieces, cornflower and rose petals, and lime leaves.
4. Ate homemade bread, 5. sowed some parsley, and cooked my meals from scratch.

I hated the Monday to Friday stint as it was. The fact it was about religion just added insult to injury according to 6 year old me. My view hast changed    Wink .

I felt just as strongly when they tried to get me to go to brownies. That didn’t last long either. I just didn’t want to be involved with anything that involved other kids. To this day I feel the same way.

And yet here you are chatting away with all us kids.
