Oca, Mashua, Yacon, Chinese & Jerusalem Artichokes, can all be regrown from harvested roots. Potatoes too, but they have their own thread!
This thread is for the oddbods.
I acquired an Oca and a Mashua plant this year and planted each one in a 30 litre pot. Both are ready to harvest now and I've just taken a Mashua tuber from the pot.

A few months ago, I took cuttings of the Oca & Mashua. and put them in water.
The Oca rooted well, the Mashua died.
The Oca cuttings were potted up and look very healthy> Whether there are any tubers or not, time will tell.

I’ve harvested a few of my Jerusalem artichokes and chucked a couple back in the ground.
When I dig them out I always seem to miss some so plenty grow back.

Very interesting. You must let us know if you think tastes of marzipan. Because if it does, I can cross it off my grow list for ever. I hate marzipan!

I've eaten some raw - like eating a peppery radish. No marzipan.......

I've grown all of title plants apart from Mashua at some stage in my gardening adventure. The only one I have stuck wth long term are the Jerusalem artichokes because they are nigh on impossible to get rid of!

I've evicted the JAs from the garden as I didn't like the after effects!
I have Chinese Artichokes but they look like big maggots and it puts me off eating them.
Oca I've grown before but lost them in the undergrowth.
Its my first time for Mashua.
Never grown Yacon.

Never grown Yacon. Yacon is easy to grow and fruitfull............but tasteless! It's supposed to have a pear taste ,but I never found it so? Very slighty sweet with the texture of a potato.......not my cup of tea!
