2025 - What I did today

Clearing out the tired, DFB and cucumber plants from GH2. Need to make space for the next round of plants.
Planted out a few more squash plants - they had two choices - plant out or compost bin. I'm such a softie I couldn't bring myself to compost them as they weren't completely dead! Found one reason why the place I planted them is no good for plants - massive tree roots at trowel depth. Since I can't dig them out, I need to think about what I can do with that area - make it part of a path?, put a raised bed on top ? ........

Defrosted the well overfilled freezer, then panicked that it wouldn't all go back in. Found masses of last year's and beyond fruit and veg. To make room I decided to make some jam with some of the blackcurrants. All a bit haphazard, all the jam kit is in the loft and jam making doesn't come naturally. We already have shelves of jam/chutney likely to stay on the shelf for ages. P has decided he prefers smooth jam with no pips so sieving added an extra dimension. Oh boy, the washing up!

Pulled up lots of montbretia from the grapevine bed alongside GH2. If I can get rid of the montbretia. I'll be able to put some big pots of veg there, alongside the waterbutt.
Also had a jam day, like JJB, although I've only done the preparation of the cherry plums so far. Maybe later!
