Potted up all the tomato seedlings. Left them in the GH as their time in the house is over, Its time to toughen up!
Cut old wood out of various shrubs - weigela, buddleia, elder, fuchsia and bits of fruit trees & bushes.

Made some beef jerky/biltong again today. I changed both the type of meat and the flavouring, The meat was still beef, but a cheaper cut and because it was thicker the pieces I cut off were smaller/narrower.
Instead of my other experimental flavourings I went for Balsamic vinegar with salt and pepper seasoning. Marinaded the meat for a very short time then put it in the dehydrator. It's still a bit chewy now so I have knocked the dehydrator off after roughly 3 hours. I will try it in the morning and swap the trays round and probably let it run whilst I walk Kato? The bit I tried was ok but I would like to check the whole batch is similar.

Yesterday helped P fix the pull swith in the bathroom which failed the night before and then, fair exchange, he finished the top veg patch digging for me. Some time spent 'declodding' trying to get a tilth to sow carrots. The sun and wind has dried the clods rock hard, so there was a lot of bashing going on. One edge of the bed is next to a hedge and the grass path between hedge and bed is now too narrow for the mower to pass easily it also slopes down towards the bare soil making mowing difficult. The soil in the patch is also well above all the surrounding paths due to years of manure and compost additions. We set some scaffold planks on edge inbound of the patch edge to hold soil in and backfilled the other side to increase the width of the path. The new path isn't level as we haven't corrected the slope but at least the mower wheels won't fall of into the abyss every time P mows. I might even get round to planting out and soing today

Potted on basil and flat and curly parsley.
I have parsley self seeding in the garden but I still like some for backup.

Mixed some old used compost with some hotbin compost and molehill soil and filled two troughs. Planted 7 Vilma dwarf bush tomato seedlings into them. Left them on the baby changing table in GH3.
GH3 doesn't get much sun overwinter and I've been using it as a potting station/pot & junk store but I want it to become part of my "little shop" so I'm converting it into a food production area.
