Growing Carrot tops

We've all seen the misleading articles about growing carrots from carrot tops and all (well most) of us know that a carrot top will not grow a new, edible root. However, the top will grow leaves which are edible, if you like that sort of thing. Carrot top pesto, maybe?

What comes after the leaves?............Flowers.
And what comes after the Flowers................Seeds. Big Grin

My cunning plan is to plant all the carrot tops that come my way (including the 5kg bag I was given today) and let them flower and, hopefully set seed. I'll leave them to self seed and grow a self-perpetuating carrot bed.
The bonus is hoverflies like carrot flowers.

Step 1, put my 4 carrot tops in a little water until the leaves emerge.
Step 2. Find an out of the way spot that can be a permanent carrot bed.

I'm going to try this with any other root veg that I acquire - beetroot, parsnips etc. Nothing ventured...........

Oh that’s an exciting experiment. I look forward to hearing how it progresses. Unfortunately I won’t be joining you. How many different veg you doing? Carrots, parsnips, turnips, swede, beetroot.
Onions? Or do they not comply. As that would be bottoms not tops?

I already plant leek and spring onion bottoms and old onions that are sprouting, and potatoes, of course!

I'm not blessed with enough room (or inclination  Big Grin)  to plant and grow all my carrot tops, but will be interested to hear how your antics work.
