I finally saw my first bumble bee of the year. It was a Buff Tailed queen examining some crocus flowers. I was beginning to worry there weren't any bumbles left!

The sunshine, birds singing and a very pleasant, short shift at work today. What more could I want? Oh, a gift of course! Jay said he will buy me a chipper tomorrow! Wooop!!

My winter sowing, aka no compost in the house in February, approach is paying off. Out in the little cold frame I have several types of flowers and a few veggies sprouting. Although I'm going to have to suffer the gnats to start some tomatoes and similar seeds in the house soon

Waking up very early (for me) and lying in bed listening to the dawn chorus. The window faces the forest so it's loud!

The trip out today to buy a second hand chipper was very successful, both in terms of the beautiful weather and the cheap, but very powerful shredder. The sun was so nice and warm in front of the barn that I could stand there in just a t-shirt and jeans to do the shredding.
I managed to get six large buckets done and spread them all where I want my paths already. I need so much more, but thankfully there's loads of fallen branches from trees here, so I will just go keep picking them up
