Find any fossils?
No, but I keep hoping. It’s fairly doubtful, i think. Don’t know why but don’t think granite is good for finding fossils. I may be making this up of course.
Bet you would love to fnd summat like this?, I know I would! Cool

Made up some seed sowing compost from molehill soil (collected today), last year's tomato pots (a mix of hotbin compost and coir) and some freshly sieved Hotbin compost. I have a big trug full now so, to celebrate, I sowed 4 different "leaves" - cauli, cabbage, spigariello and Bekana.
Planted 6 self seeded brassicas - not sure what they are - look like kale and they pop up all over the place. These were in the tomato pots.
Did a bit of clearing in GH4, where I grow the "windowsill" tomatoes. The Red Robin seeds I sowed last week are already up.

Did a bit of tidying of pots waiting area. Took down last year’s sweet pea frame. Removed the wind brake I’d put up as it got ripped out by the last gale. Did a little mental planning for the year. Sorted out my plant labels.
Builder that would like to go play in the garden.

My day started very frosty, and ended the same. The trees are glistening white and I much prefer that to snow. I decided to head out with the dogs to take photos and survey the ground around the pond to see where the warmth melts the frost first - part of getting to know a new garden, right?
I finished my uni essay yesterday, so today is my first work-less, no uni day leaving me free to play as I wish! I decided that clearing away Christmas HAD to happen before I found all my seeds, compost, trays and labels, or it is quite possible it never will happen at all and I'll have Christmas decs up in August still.
I got it done, and sowed 30 odd types of seeds, some shared in other posts already. It's the first seeds of 2025! I found a seed bag I had saved from Turkey - a fascinating tree with long bean-looking pods. I sowed some in a pot and bagged it. You never know Smile
I've also sown some Shishito peppers. My god I've missed them peppers. Small and delicious cooked on the barbeque whole. Something to dream about and yearn for the summer Smile

I've attempted to discuss a matter with my bank that provides our mortgage today, and after 45 minutes of turning the air blue, I found a way to do it online. Why do they have to make it so difficult?

I took the dogs for a walk, brought some pots into the house and potted up some aloe vera and porcelain flower plant cuttings that I had gifted to me. I had to leave all my houseplants in the UK.

I've sown some white aubergines (F1 variety and I want rid of the seeds), self-saved hollyhocks and Rudbeckia Gold star. More to come tonight, I'm sure.

My job for today, which I am not particularily looking forward to is shifting this lot with a wheelbarrow and stacking it. With this storm wind it may be one step forward and two steps back? Rolleyes
I have to get it shifted as I have another load this size coming either today or tomorrow? Cry

That looks fun Vinny! I had six cubic meters of fire wood delivered last weekend, and it took a while to get it chucked through a window down to the basement, but it was good fun, and very good exercise!

I've found remnants of clothes/carpet moths as well as grub casings, some of which have grubs in them and a very mouldy wall behind the bed in the spare/junk room. Just shows how long ago since I braved looking there! So had to clear junk, remove bed (not easy as it's very tightly fitted between furniture) scrubbed walls with mould remover. Hoovered violently. P's going to repaint wall but last night there wasn't time, so had to put all back ready for removing again this morning. It looks like the moths attacked a wool under blanket, now in the bin. And the bed/matress is looking a bit dodgy, but that might just be age. I'm resiting getting a new divan, having looked at the prices and been gobsmaked. I am so out of date. I'm researching moth killer. Nothing organic about that!

Up half the night with Kato barking for some reason? Walked him early doors then off to boot camp and boxing. After that it was shopping (the rump steak in Morries is half price with 20% off as well because it's Saturday so stocked up on that. Spent ages picking out the pieces with a load of fat on as I cut this off and cook it with the  steak seperate. The fat/rind is the tastiest bit once well cooked. Got some pickled herring as well as prawns (I need a prawn lady? )so thats me set for meat for the week.
Came back and moved the last of the logs, so just waiting for the next load to be delivered then it all starts a again. Rolleyes

I went to a charity second hand shop today, as they had a retro day. I loved it! I found a whole stack of terracotta pots for cheap, so I bought the lot.

I haven't done anything remotely gardening related today other than that, but I was delighted to find that both my nine star perennial broccoli AND my red russian kale have come up!
