Latest experiment!!

 These gutters (originally from Freecycle) were planted with strawberries outdoors but the plants were past their best so I decided to turn them into something different - a Greenhouse Gutter Garden (GGG). 
Took the tops off the staging and rested the guttering on them - filled with compost.

5 rows of guttering, though not all full length.
Back row planted with beetroot seedlings.
Next row - spring onions
Next - radish
Next - Salad bowl lettuce seedlings
Last row - nothing - so far.

I'm sowing in small sections - when one lot germinates, I sow another lot of seeds alongside and move the seed label to the end of the sown part.

So far, so good and it looks like a good way to keep small quantities of veg growing, hopefully over winter. Also, easy to pick.

I use gutter for growing micro veg & herbs.
I do have trouble with keeping them damp in hot weather. My gutter is only in short lengths. So maybe has something to do with it.

I sow my telephone peas in guttering. Other that I’ve used guttering for lettuce, radishes and spring onions until they’re big enough to be moved/tipped into a bed. I only really use them earlier in the season otherwise waterings a problem.

What drainage do you have in the guttering Veggie

Its the flat bottomed guttering with 5 sides so there are holes drilled in the 2 angled sides near the base.

Update from the Gutters!
Non-stop lettuce - leaves staying clean and no need to bend - in fact, its a No Bend garden - or No Dig but that's been done elsewhere.

You've hit on a winner there Veggie.

I'm pleased with the lettuce - they were planted as seedlings - so were the beetroot but they have some way to go before they're pickable.
The radish should be next to pick and the spring onions always take longer than they should! Not sure why I bother with those.
May try some baby turnips and some Oriental veg seed what works and what isn't worthwhile.
Need to find some more guttering first.
