This is I-Spy with a twist - its I-Smell something beginning with the appropriate letter of the alphabet.
We'll start tomorrow with Smells beginning with A.
If you can, tell us when or where you smelled it, any memories it brings back.........any old waffle you like.

I could think of a smell for 'A' but I had better not!

I smell Antiseptic, that nose deafening smell when you enter a hospital which always brings back memories of procedures past, both good and bad.

A is for Aniseed, in particular Aniseed balls that we used to eat/suck when we were kids. In my memory there was a little hard speck in the centre of the sweet which, with hindsight, I presume was an Ani-seed.
I asked the Duck what they knew about Aniseed balls and they said that they were used as detonators in underwater limpet mines because they take exactly 35 minutes to dissolve! Who'd have thought it!

Artimesia Aboretam, reminds me of my Grandmother. She always had this in her Darden and I still have plants from cuttings from her bush. She died 70+ years ago.

I love the smell of butter melted and sizzling in the frying pan, there's always something tasty coming out of frying in butter.

B - Fresh Bread straight from the oven. Many happy memories of "Bread". My Mum worked in a local bakery and when she came home, usually with a bag of bread or cakes, the smell of Bread seemed to fill the house. Warm bread = Mum

I was actually going to say baked bread. But I’ll go with my second option the stuff that goes beautifully in between 2 slices of fresh bread, Bacon. Frying bacon does smell good.

Beetroot, one of my earliest memories is a cheese sandwich with hot, sliced beetroot on it. Still one of my favourite foods.
